Rosemary Oil for Hair

Rosemary oil has become an extremely popular essential oil.  It is a versatile oil with many uses.  It is used to boost mental activity, relieve respiratory problems, and even reduce pain.  It is also beneficial in skincare.  And it is especially helpful when used in hair care products.

Rosemary essential oil comes from the rosemary bush.  It is often used as a cooking herb.  It has been used for its many benefits since ancient times.  Rosemary was highly regarded by the Romans who even used it in religious ceremonies.  It is known for its powerful and distinct clean fresh smell.

For hair care rosemary oil has proven to be very beneficial.  It is often added to shampoos and lotions.  Rosemary oil has been shown to increase circulation.  Using rosemary oil regularly on the scalp helps to stimulate the hair follicles.  This makes hair grow longer, faster and stronger.  It is also believed to slow down hair loss.  It may even slow the graying process.  It can be used as a good tonic for balding men or anyone who is getting older.

Rosemary oil is also helpful in dealing with dry or flaky scalps.  It can be massaged directly into the scalp to nourish the scalp and remove buildup of flakes.  It is good when used to treat scalp conditions such as dandruff, dermatitis and eczema.  It is often mixed with other essential oils such as tea tree oil and basil oil to treat the scalp.

I was first introduced to apple cider vinegar shampoo and hair rinse when my scalp broke out with a horrible itch and a lot of flakes. It was after I ussed a heavily fragranced shampoo but then again I had also eaten a ton of sugar on bet, so I don’t really know which one it was. But I can tell you this – I went to the dermatologist and he diagnosed it as a bad case of dandruff – he called it severe dandruff. I am not sure what it was but I expected it to go away in a couple of days and it did not. This is when I started trying a ton of different products that were supposed to end the scalp itching and flaking. And while I could tell a little bit of a difference – they were far from the results that I wanted. I was shooting for perfect and why not just three weeks ago my scalp was perfect. After I had tried every t gel, selsun blue, other blue shampoos, heavily medicated shampoos and even ketaconazale shampoos I was at my whits end. This is when almost magically Apple Cider Vingar Shampoo was forced on me.

hair-problemsI by my apple cider hair care products from iwantthathair.com. They are the only store that I can find that has the unique hair products that I am looking for. I often by fragrance free hair products or unscented shampoos and even skin care from them. I have also tried their saw palmetto shampoo and conditioner as well as their rosemary hair oil to soothe and stimulate my scalp. If you have not tried rosemary and mint shampoo or rosemary and mint shampoo and conditioner then I strongly suggest you do. You will see how asleep your scalp really has been!

What Causes Sores on the Scalp

scalp-folliculitisIt is not uncommon for itchy sores to appear on the scalp often called scalp sores treatment.  They are often deep within hair and may be hard to reach and treat.  Let’s take a look at some of the possible causes for this uncomfortable condition.

When the scalp is too dry — dry scalp –  the hair follicle may not close completely.  If this happens dirt and bacteria can get trapped inside the hair follicle.   This will cause scalp bumps and scalp sores to appear.  This condition tends to be quite itchy and will become worse if one scratches the affected area.  It may even become infected.

Often people try to treat scalp sores with chemical laden hair products or even worse with facial acne treatments.  Chemical hair products will actually dry the scalp out further.  This could be the cause of the original problem.   Either way, it will most definitely exasperate the problem.

Products such as benzyl peroxide are often used to treat facial acne but not scalp acne as it treated better with a scalp acne shampoo, but these are not appropriate for use on the scalp.  They will also dry the scalp too much cause more problems.  In addition, they may actually damage or bleach hair and have been known to cause hair loss in some cases.  This is more often true with chemically altered hair.

What Is The Best Treatment For Scalp Sores?

The best way to treat scalp sores is to use natural ingredients that work to balance as well as clean the scalp.  Zinc is one of the best products that has shown real results in treating scalp problems such as sore.  It works to regulate the sebum gland which produces oil on the scalp.  Jojoba oil and emu oil shampoo have also been shown to work very well to create a healthy scalp.  But the best products are healing and detoxifying herbs. Detoxifying the scalp is the most effective way to get rid of scalp sores and considered the best scalp sores treatment.

Stretch Mark Prevention

Rapid weight gain on any part of the body can cause stretch marks to appear.  They are particularly common in women who are pregnant, affecting more than 50 %.  Stretch can occur at other times as well and affect both men and women.  Body builders and athletes may get stretch marks from building muscle too quickly.  Teen often get stretch marks when they experience a growth spurt.

Expectant mothers often see stretch marks on the abdomen where the skin is stretch to capacity.  They may also get marks on other areas where weight is often gained as well during pregnancy like the hips, buttocks, breast, thighs and arms.

Collagen is lost when the skin is stretched too quickly.  The collagen deposits that are deep down in the skin tissue begin to break apart with the extreme stretch.  This can cause the tissue to literally rip and tear.  The result of the healing of these small tears is scar tissue.  The marks appear as red or pink depressed streaks in the skin at first.  The stretch marks may be very small or as large as four inches long.  Eventually they will loose color and become white or silvery and be a little less noticeable.

The only way to truly prevent stretch marks is to avoid rapid weight gain.  That however is not always possible especially during pregnancy.  Some other factors affect who get stretch marks and how severe they are.  As with many things, heredity may determine a person’s predisposition to stretch marks.  Some people naturally have skin that is more elastic and will not get stretch marks as easily.  Women with fair–skinned have been shown to get more stretch marks.  Skin that is dry is also more prone to stretch marks.

There are some things that may help prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.  Try to stay within the recommended weight gain range.  Next keep skin moisturized.  A good stretch mark cream should be applied beginning in the first trimester.  Apply it at least one time per day.  Some of the best ingredients to look for in a stretch mark cream are Vitamin E, Vitamin A, emu oil, cocoa butter, and lanolin.

It is also important to have a good diet.  Vegetables and leafy greens are good for the growing baby and the health of skin.  Also, foods and supplements with Vitamin C and E, zinc and silica will help make skin more elastic and able to bounce back post birth.  Dinking plenty of water and fluids makes for healthier more beautiful skin as well.

If stretch marks do appear from pregnancy or other means, there are stretch marks creams that can help fade stretch marks.  One ingredient that has shown promising results is Matrixyl.  Using Matrixyl with Vitamin E, aloe and emu oil will increase its effectiveness.    Using a good stretch mark cream with the right ingredients regularly over a few months can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
